Origin: Mount Kenya, Africa
A gorgeous, single estate, tippy orthodox tea. We really enjoyed this tea and were split on which way to prepare it. Therefore, we will share our tasting notes and leave it to you to decide what you like best!
Using about ½ tsp of tea to 4oz water at 194°F for 45 seconds, yielded about 4 infusions. Medium bodied, the brandy-colored infusion reveals the fragrance of sweet and mildly tangy plums with a touch of wood. The taste of plums coat the palate then concentrates at the back of the tongue finishing with a pleasantly sweet and tamarind-like tang. Nicely grounding, the leaves are reminiscent of a balanced Yunnan Golden Tips, with its own distinctive African twist.
Bring water to just under a boil. Use 1 tsp tea with 4 oz water. Steep for 2-3 minutes. Deliciously aromatic, enjoy notes of chocolate, honey and caramelized sugar with the hint of nuts coming through.
Royal Golden Safari is produced unblended and pesticide-free. Royal Golden Safari honors the late Prof. Wangari Muta Maathai, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, political activist and Kenyan environmentalist.
